Outdoor Recreation

If you enjoy the great outdoors, there are numerous opportunities to hike, bike, camp and hunt in the rugged Nevada outback that surrounds Winnemucca. The areas around Winnemucca are full of exciting places to explore. Whether you are looking for off-road adventure trails or abandoned ghost towns, Winnemucca is a great base camp to outdoor recreation in Northern Nevada. Offering a landscape rich in minerals, Winnemucca’s surrounding areas are well known for some of the best rock hounding in the country. The outlying community of Denio is the gateway to Nevada’s Opal Mines. These small towns are home to great people and true western hospitality.

If you are planning on staying within the city limits, the city of Winnemucca does an exceptional job of maintaining its public parks. Winnemucca boasts four beautiful city parks. Or if you are looking for a game of golf, the Winnemucca Golf Course is a beautifully maintained nine-hole course in the middle of town (open seasonally).

So whether you wish to go beyond the city limits or stay within, Winnemucca offers numerous opportunities for outdoor recreation. Come to Winnemucca and explore what we have to offer!
